Day 30: As We Are

AS WE ARE

 

Eyes
they say
tell us who we really are.
But I don’t see it.
I can’t see your soul
through them.
I can’t figure you out
just by gazing into them.

I need to take you in
as a whole–
as you are.
Because when I love you,
I don’t love only pieces of you.
I love all of you. 

There’s no compromise,
no settling,
no trying to change
who you are.

There is only growth.
There is only love.
There is only us-
as we are.
